Procedures, Approach and Philosophy:
George captures and presents his subjects in a moment that speaks of the inner life of the subject.
The viewer should read and be captured by the image.
George seeks an internal reference, a reflective resonance.
In this, George's inspiration is Edward Degas, Johannes Vermeer, Diego Valesquez and Jean-Baptise-Camile Corot.
The soft lines of DaVinci inform his use of brushwork.
You may also see appreciation for John Singer Sargent.
Bold strokes and accidental dripping paint he'll leave to others, in his work, look for thought.
Investigation of posing, setting, posture, message, purpose and intention will be discussed and considered in the first meeting. The place of installation may affect the choice of size, composition and color emphasis.
Once a vision is generalized, preliminary photographs will be taken either by the artist or his photographer.
This process may be lengthy. The photography will take a natural approach with the artist or photographer spending unstructured time with the subject in order to obtain the kind of candid snap shot that reveals the subjects inner self.
After George completes his analysis and consideration of the final piece there will be a final photo session in the agreed upon pose.
Completion may take many months due to design complexity and technique.
George paints in an adaptation of a traditional old world glazing technique to ensure archival qualities originally investigated by Leonardo DaVinci and established by his contemporaries using Walnut oil, Oil of Spike Lavender and Canada Balsam. George employs Black, White and only three chroma with rare exceptional additions.
